Get long-standing issues in your home fixed right

While living in your home, you might start to notice things that are out of place, damaged, or parts of your home you don’t like that you’d want to replace but you’re not sure where to turn. Maybe you notice some dings on your walls, water stains on your ceiling from a past roof leak, backsplash or tile work you dislike, or a variety of other in-home issues. You might want to make a change but do not have the time or expertise to complete the job so you’ve ignored those issues for a number of years.

At Ohio Pro Group, we get it! Odd jobs like these are often quoted at extravagant prices because it’s small work and some businesses see it as a waste of time. Others like handymen might not have the experience or technical skills to fix these issues to provide a professional result.

We can help you with a variety of odd home repair jobs, non-mechanical related.

Home Repair Services

1.Drywall Repairs

Overtime, drywall gets nicked up in a variety of ways. We can help fix a number of common issues and drywall damage.

Holes and Cracks: Small holes from nails and screws, or cracks due to settling, temperature fluctuations, or slight structural shifts can become more noticeable over time.

Water Damage: Signs such as yellow stains, bubbling paint, or black mold can form on your walls or ceilings.

Nail Pops and Loose Tape: Small, raised bumps caused by nails shifting, peeling or loose joint tape can create unsightly seams under the surface.

Large Holes and Structural Damage: Accidental impacts, furniture movement, or renovation work can leave large holes in drywall.

Drywall Repair Process

  1. We’ll assess the situation to understand the extent of the damage and identify any underlying issues
  2. Prep the surface to ensure long-lasting results by cleaning and sanding the damaged area
  3. We’ll fix your issue with a patch or other repair. For minor damage, we use spackling or joint compound to fill cracks and small holes. For larger damage, we may install new drywall sections to ensure a seamless repair.
  4. Once the repair material is dry, we sand the area to achieve a smooth, even surface that’s ready for painting.
  5. To complete the process, we can apply primer and paint to blend the repaired area with the rest of the wall for a flawless finish. We can also leave the painting to you if preferred.

2. Wall Retexturing or Removal

From exposed brick to modern wall designs, textured interior walls are seeing a resurgence in popularity.

Molding Design Panels: Using a variety of trim and other pieces, we can create a variety of wall designs used as subtle accents features that appear in many high-end homes

Textured Walls: There are a variety of wall texture methods like knockdown, orange peel, skip trowel, smooth and more. We can apply many of these techniques to your walls.

Exposed Brick or Faux Wall Patterns: Existing brick homes can have brick exposed while others can use faux panels that resemble brick designs, stonework, and more. These have become increasingly more popular on the interior of homes.

Removing of Textures: If your home has popcorn ceilings, paneling, or other wall coatings that you no longer want, we can help remove them and retexture for a smooth finish, ready for painting.

Wall Retexturing Process

  1. We begin by thoroughly cleaning the walls, removing existing features, repairing cracks, and filling holes to create a smooth foundation.
  2. We’ll apply a high-quality primer to ensure the texture or wall feature adheres properly and creates an even finish.
  3. Our team applies the chosen texture or design using professional tools and techniques for consistent results.
  4. Once dry, we inspect the surface, make any necessary adjustments, and apply paint or sealant for a finished look.

3. Tiling and Backsplash

Updating your kitchen or bathroom doesn’t always require a full remodel. If you have nice looking cabinets, countertops, vanities, and more, subtle accent features like tile or backsplash can be a nice upgrade to your rooms.

Bathroom Tiling: Tiling is extremely popular in bathrooms with white subway tiling becoming a primary feature over the last 5-10 years. Any type of tiling can provide moisture protection for your walls with added accent designs that are visually appealing.

Kitchen Backsplashes: Kitchen backsplashes can be simple tiles to mosaic designs. Adding moisture protection, backsplashes add unique accents to contrast your countertops, cabinetry, and appliances.

Tiling and Backsplash Process

  1. We begin by moving any appliances in kitchens, removing glass shower doors in bathrooms, preparing walls by removing old existing work, and cleaning walls thoroughly.
  2. Once walls are prepped, we’ll properly measure and plan the tiling to ensure the pattern is distributed evenly. We’ll make sure horizontal and vertical lines are level for a clean visually appealing look.
  3. We’ll apply adhesive to small areas of walls and begin installing the tiles or backsplash as necessary, cutting tiles where walls, cabinets, tubs and other objects intersect.
  4. Once all tiling has completed, we’ll wait about 24 hours to allow the adhesive to dry to ensure stability.
  5. Once dried, we’ll apply grout, press it into the gaps, wipe away excess and caulk edges for a nice clean look.
  6. We recommend waiting another 24-48 hours to reattach outlet covers and others for a polished finish.

FAQs About Whole Home Remodeling in Columbus, Ohio

Drywall repairs typically take a few hours but it depends on the level of damage that we are repairing and how deep of an area we have to fill. When using an appropriate amount, most joint compound dries within 1-2 hours but deeper gashes may take longer. This may cause the repair to be a multi-day job as we are just waiting for the compound to dry before completing the rest of the work.

No. We work these small projects into our existing schedule which may take a week or two depending on the other project timelines, job locations, and priorities. That said, our costs are reasonable and we’ll do our best to get you scheduled quickly.

If it’s a common, regular texture, yes. If it’s something custom and more artistic, we can do our best to match it but may not match exactly depending on the level of difficulty.

Yes you can, but you have to be diligent as many of the textures have various low points that may not get painted when using a roller. You may need to go through with a regular brush, spot check and paint areas that have been untouched.

Most wall retexturing projects can be completed within a few days, depending on the size of the space and the chosen texture. We’ll provide a clear timeline before getting started.

Our team takes steps to keep your space as clean as possible. We use protective coverings, control dust during the process, and ensure a thorough cleanup once the job is complete.

We can repair cracks, dents, and other damage before applying new textures. In some cases, old wallpaper may need to be removed to ensure the best results.

Wipe down tiles regularly with a mild cleaner to prevent buildup. Use a grout brush with a baking soda and vinegar solution for tougher stains. Reapply grout sealant annually to protect against stains and moisture.
