Reliable Flooring Contractor in Columbus

Flooring is one of the most important choices in your home as it’s one of the most high-maintenance items in your house, both due to wear and tear and everyday life with crumbs or accidental spills. Keeping your floors clean requires consistent vacuuming, sweeping, swiffering, or mopping, and installing a durable floor which can stand the test of time is important for the longevity of your flooring.

At Ohio Pro Group, we help simplify choosing the right flooring. We’ll ask you a few questions, gauge your preferences on colors, durability, and preferred method of cleaning. We’ll help you choose a type of flooring that matches your needs and looks great.

Flooring Services and Installation

Flooring Removal and Subflooring

Depending on the existing flooring in your home and the new type of floor you want to install, these elements will determine whether the existing floor will need to be removed. If your existing floor is:

  • Laminate, vinyl, or hardwood – we can install new flooring directly over top of the existing without removal as long as the surface is flat and smooth
  • Carpet or tile – flooring is required to be removed

When flooring is removed and the subfloor or underlayment are exposed, we’ll ensure the wood below the surface does not contain any mold, rotting, warping, or other issues. We’ll need to completely remove or replace parts of the subfloor if necessary.

If there is any type of soundproofing, extra padding, or radiant heat system you’d like to add for durability or comfortability, this would be the time we’d want to install those underlayments.

Flooring Installation

Once the subfloor is prepped, we’ll begin installing your new floor. We’ll first lay out a pattern in the direction you want that also makes sense with any other existing floors we’ll be matching up with. At this point, we’ll put down glue or other adhesives if necessary depending on the type of flooring you’ve chosen.

Many floor types use a “click-lock” “floating floor functions that both doesn’t require it to be glued down and also makes it much easier to connect floor pieces to ensure they’re locked in place. This helps speed up the process to get your floors done quicker.

We’ll cut any flooring pieces necessary to create the desired pattern of your flooring. We’ll measure and cut around corners, cabinets, islands, floor vents, and others, ensuring minimal gaps between these items.

Once the entire floor is complete, we’ll install any baseboards or trim near walls and cabinets, ensuring there are no gaps between the flooring and these elements. We’ll tap all finishing nails down appropriately and clean up to finish your flooring project.

FAQs About Flooring Installation in Columbus, Ohio

Costs vary depending on the type of flooring, square footage, and room(s) we are installing the floor in. Bathrooms are the most complicated because of toilets which will have to be disassembled and moved prior to the flooring being installed beneath it. We’ll give you a quote once we complete our initial measurement.

Most projects take 1-3 days with tile floors often taking the longest. Floating floors and click-locks have greatly increased efficiency as they aren’t always required to be glued down.

Luxury vinyl plank, tile, and hardwood are all great options for durability and longevity. You can also buy these same products in different thicknesses to increase the durability as well, with an increased material cost as well.

Generally, no. There are sustainable flooring choices like bamboo and cork but they are usually on the more expensive side and are less likely to be in stock which can cause delays.
